SUBJECT: Community Connection - week of Nov 14

Creekview Elementary PTO Community Connection
PTO news, events, and volunteer opportunities at Creekview Elementary.

Reminder: Holiday Break

Creekview will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, November 21st-25th.

Bikes and Scooters Suggestion

Students are having a hard time finding their bikes and scooters after school and sometimes they're going home with the wrong bike/scooter. Please consider placing a colored ribbon, rubber band or sticker on their handlebars to help them take home the right ride. Thank you!

Time to Check Lost & Found

Before we head into the holiday break, be sure to stop by the school this week to save your student's items from the Lost & Found. All items not reclaimed will be donated.

Creekview Cares and T1 Diabetes

November is National T1 Diabetes Awareness month and our Creekview Cares committee jumped at the chance to bring our community together. We gathered a team to raise funds ($3K!! Thank you!) and walked the JDFR 5k on Saturday the 5th. Facts continue to be shared during Rise & Shine, and Monday is World Diabetes Day so wear blue to show support!

Instructional Specialist Day 11/16

Brighten a teacher's day! Send our Instructional Specialists a note Wednesday or login to Membership Toolkit and check out their favorites lists.

Creekview Connect Meeting 11/17 @ 9:30am

Five easy ways to give back to Creekview!

Link your Kroger Card to Creekview Elementary! Much like Amazon Smile program, any transactions using your card will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. Kroger donates a percentage annually back to participating organizations. Click logo to get started.

Drink Coca-Cola products? Find out how scanning a product can earn Creekview money! Click the logo above.

Does your student misplace their water bottle often? Put a label on it! Mabel's Labels gives 20% back on every purchase. Click logo to get started.

Are you an Exxon employee or the spouse of one? Did you know your volunteer hours at and for Creekview can turn into money for your school? Join the Whats App group today or email Bev Klinger with questions.

Thanksgiving Luncheon 11/16

We're kicking off the holidays for our teachers and staff with a holiday lunch! The main course will be provided and to round out the meal we're asking parents to share items like cornbread, potatoes, veggies, mac and cheese, and gravy. Sign in to Membership Toolkit to view the signup. Thank you Creekview!

Janet Marek

PE Coach

Callie: What is your favorite memory from elementary school?
Coach Marek: My favorite memory from elementary school was working hard to get the Presidential physical fitness patch each year! I worked so hard to get the fastest run time, pull-ups, bar hang, etc. I loved PE!

Callie: If you had to sing karaoke right now, what song would you pick?
Coach Marek: If I had to sing Karaoke right now, I would sing Hotel California by the Eagles.

Callie: If you could pick a superpower, what would it be and what would you use it for?
Coach Marek: If I had a superpower, I would love to be able to fly! I would love to soar above everyone, miss out on traffic, and get places super fast.

Callie: If you're at trivia night, what category would you dominate?
Coach Marek: I would dominate in the food/kitchen category. My husband and I love to cook, try new recipes and have lots of kitchen gadgets!

Callie: What's the weirdest item in your fridge right now?
Coach Marek: My husbands' Gorilla glue that he keeps in the fridge for some reason?

Callie: Would you rather speak all languages or be able to talk to animals?
Coach Marek: I would love to speak all languages! It would be wonderful to travel the world and be able to communicate and speak all languages.

Amanda Burns

PE Coach

Callie: Do you have any pets? If so, tell me about them?
Mrs. Burns: I have a black miniature Schnauzer named Zeus. He is really really cute, but he is not very smart and has a terrible screech instead of a bark so we call him the Screecher Creature.

Callie: If you're at trivia night, what category would you dominate?
Mrs. Burns: I also would dominate "All Things Dogs" if that was a real Trivial Pursuit category.

Callie: What is your favorite memory from elementary school?
Mrs. Burns: My favorite elementary memory is from 3rd grade. My teacher was Mrs. Bowers and I remember two things about her. The first is that she taught our class responsibility. If we forgot to purchase a lunch ticket (this was before scanning was a thing) we had to go to the front office and tell the secretary, "I forgot my responsibility and I need to purchase a lunch ticket please." The other thing is that she taught whoever wanted to learn how to crochet. I made a blanket that year.

Callie: What's one place you would love to visit and why?
Mrs. Burns: If I could visit any place I would like to go to Holland and see the tulip fields—they are my favorite kind of flower.

Callie: What's something that always gives you child-like joy?
Mrs. Burns: Something that gives me childlike joy is turning on the Christmas tree lights for the first time of the season! They just make me sooo happy and joyful and thankful. But I also really like when the Aggies beat anybody that is ranked higher than we are!

Callie: If you could choose to do anything for the day, what would it be?
Mrs. Burns: And if I could have the perfect day it would be to wake up and volunteer at an animal shelter, then go eat at a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant, then go get a mani/pedi, play a board game with my family, read 3-4 chapters of a great book, and fall asleep for 8 straight hours without waking up one single time!
